Our Program

Memorial Theatre is committed to providing students with rigorous and varied training as theatre artists. We encourage and support creativity and problem solving on the stage, backstage, and at the writing and drafting desks. We ask our students to engage with a range of dramatic literature to deepen their understanding of storytelling as a universal part of culture. We produce theatre as a collaborative art placing emphasis on the multitude of disciplines and ideas that it takes to create a performance. Memorial Theatre values our students as individuals and embraces the cultural diversity and neurodiversity that they bring to our classroom and our performing spaces. We emphasize the importance of empathy, productivity, creativity, integrity, and growth. We want every student to understand that the choices they make will become the story they tell.

  • Classes in theatrical performance (Theatre 1-4 and Advanced Theatre) and technical theatre (Technical Theatre 1-4).

  • Three main stage shows each year: Fall Play, Winter Musical (in collaboration with Band and Orchestra), and Spring One Act Play (UIL Contest).

  • Two acting showcases and two improv shows each year in our Black Box Theatre.

  • Compete in the Texas Thespian Festival, International Thespian Festival, the Tommy Tune Awards, and the UIL One Act Play Contest.

  • Additional opportunities to collaborate with other performing arts disciplines, including supporting their concerts and shows with technical elements.
